Trustees

The role of trustee brings many responsibilities. The Trustee Act 2000 both significantly increased the power of trustees, and placed a far greater degree of accountability on them.

Trustees have wide statutory powers of investment, and can make any kind of investment that they would have made as individuals if they owned the trust assets. This places a greater burden on trustees, who should be looking at the suitability of all the investments as well as the wider issue of diversification.

The Act also obliges trustees to obtain and consider proper advice before exercising a power of investment Our experienced team can provide advice, both on investments and mitigation of tax.
