Tait Walker expands office and creates brand new client and team hub

GOSFORTH headquartered Tait Walker has opened its brand new work space designed for collaboration and inspiration.

As the firm enters its 80th year the new-look offices at Bulman House form part of a significant transformation of the leading accountancy firm’s working environment, increasing the total office space by over 9,000 square feet.

New kitchens and informal team areas have been created on all three floors for the staff, as well as flexible meeting spaces with the latest technology, including flat screen TVs and WePresent – a presentation system offering wireless screen sharing from any device. Tait Walker is also opening these rooms up to clients, offering them a non-city centre space to work from, use for meetings or hold events.

In addition to supporting the region’s businesses to grow, Tait Walker is also committed to the growth and development of its people.

The team can benefit from relaxed breakout zones for meetings or to simply take time away from their desks to share ideas, while pool tables have been introduced to encourage interaction and allow its people to unwind, or create a dose of healthy competition.

Andrew Moorby managing partner, said: “A great office environment is extremely important for all our team. We wanted to design an inspirational workspace that would not only support our existing staff, but would help attract the next generation to work in the financial industry, and would also benefit our clients.

“The new space gives us even more scope to train and develop our people, take on more staff and provide opportunities for personal development and progression within the business.”

Refurbishment of several areas in Bulman House previously occupied by tenants has allowed the firm to reorganise its teams into ‘working groups’, to facilitate better working between departments. One example of this is the merging of the tax and wealth management teams onto one floor, allowing the combined team of 47 to work in a better way, be more collaborative and ensure that they continue to give clients the best possible service.

The expansion of the office space will allow the accountancy firm to continue to recruit. January sees the firm welcome  Mike Hartness and Gareth Nicholson to its growing Wealth Management team. Both bring with them a combined total of almost 30 years’ experience in the industry, and will be working closely with clients to support and ensure that their financial needs are met.

Andrew added: “We had a really positive year in 2016 and it’s great to be able to start the New Year on a high. With our expanding team and growing client base, the new and improved office space was very much needed. We really hope that our clients enjoy the new space as much as our team and utilise the new meeting spaces.”

The Gosforth office currently houses around 130 of Tait Walker’s 155 staff and the business welcomed a total of 21 new starters in 2016 across its three sites – it also has offices in Tees Valley and Morpeth, providing advice to clients across the North East region.
