Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting on audit and accounting assignments for our corporate and not for profit / charities client base with typical turnovers ranging between £1-50m.

Responsible for the audit process from initial planning through to completion reporting to the relevant Partner / Audit Manager.

Supervision of junior staff and providing training as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of external audit and knowledge of International Auditing Standards
  • Experience of preparing Statutory Accounts under FRS102
  • Experience of preparing Statutory Accounts under Charity SORP
  • ACA or ACCA qualified or qualified by experience
  • Full driving licence

Wealth Support Apprentice

We are looking for the right candidate to join our Wealth Management team as an Apprentice.

The role will be to provide suitable technical support to the team and take overall responsibility for the administrative process, whilst operating at all times within the compliance and internal procedures of the firm. Other duties include:

  • Administration, such as photocopying, answering telephones, maintaining the filing system and sorting post
  • Effective communication with product providers
  • Assist the Advisers with their diaries and time management
  • Liaising and working closely with dedicated Para-Planners
  • Data input to the back office systems
  • Set up client files and ensure checklists are completed accurately
  • Issuing policy documents and correspond with providers
  • Preparation of portfolio valuations
  • Chasing work through to completion
  • Maintaining case schedules in a timely manner
  • Understanding and apply all aspects of the firms approach to treating customers fairly

Wealth Support Administrator

Would you like to work for one of the region’s leading Wealth Management firms? We are a team of 30 and looking for a Wealth Support Administrator to join our growing Wealth Management team based at our Gosforth Office.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • New business submission and chasing for all new client applications until project is complete, whilst keeping the Financial Planner and client informed
  • Sending off and chasing up on information with regards to Letters of Authority and adding to back office system
  • Assisting and actioning post, organising diaries and booking client and internal meetings
  • Inputting application details into Intelligent Office
  • Raising fee invoices
  • Assist with good client outcomes and with particular reference to the 5 FCA conduct rules
  • Maintaining our bank office system
  • To assist the support team and compliance department
  • Preparing and sending client letters and emails
  • Answering and making telephone calls to clients and providers
  • Any other duties that may be reasonably required
  • Discuss any cases that are not clear with your line manager or compliance manager

Skills and experience:

  • Experience of Intelligent office or other back office systems
  • Strong IT skills in core Microsoft Office systems

Tax Senior (Private Client)

We are looking for a Tax Senior to join our Private Client team.

The role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work with High Net Worth Individuals and shareholders/directors of Owner Managed Businesses.

The role will be primarily compliance focused but will provide the opportunity to experience both personal tax compliance and advisory aspects of personal tax.

Essential

The successful candidate will be ATT qualified.

Desirable

  • Experience in dealing with owner managed businesses, including profit extraction options for limited companies
  • Experience in dealing with sole traders and partnerships including preparation of tax and capital allowances computations and associated planning including pensions and consideration of incorporation
  • Comfortable with client contact & used to managing own portfolio of clients
  • Experience of Digita would be desirable (training will be provided if the candidate is using alternative software such as CCH)
  • Willingness to learn about process automation and implement process updates using Office 365 (and specialist software such as Digita Onvio)
  • Some knowledge of accounts would be an advantage

What we are looking for

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a good understanding of the value that pro-active corporate tax compliance and advisory services can bring to clients
  • Have a background which is corporate tax focused and a Big 4/mid tier background may be of assistance
  • Be responsible for assisting with project management and delivery of a broad range of corporate tax work; including:
    • Tax reporting and compliance under IFRS and UK GAAP for a range of large corporate groups including multinational groups
    • Domestic and international advice
    • R&D claims (SME and RDEC)
    • Patent Box claims
    • Capital allowances claims
    • Sales & acquisitions, structuring and due diligence
  • Need to have excellent telephone and meeting skills because they will be speaking to clients and third parties on a daily basis – regular and direct contact with the clients will be a large part of the role
  • Preferably have experience of Alphatax or Digita Corporate Tax Advanced (ie Onesource)
  • Ideally have experience of deferred tax calculations under both UK GAAP (FRS102) and IFRS
  • Have some experience of complex groups and funding structures such as private equity or family office funded companies
  • Have experience of working in an environment that requires tight deadlines to be met and experience of working alongside business services, audit and corporate finance teams as well as fellow tax professionals from different disciplines
  • Have ambition to expand their knowledge in a growing market and to expand their ability through continuous learning in an environment where continuous development is prioritised
