In today’s episode, meet Omar Din, our Financial Planner…
How long have you worked at MHA Tait Walker and what’s your role in the team?
I joined the Wealth Management team at MHA Tait Walker in September 2015. Previously, I was a Financial Planner for eight years with a national network. I made the move as I wanted to work in more of a support role and a position of Wealth Support Executive became available, effectively a Paraplanner who supports Financial Planners.
Last year I made the move back to Financial Planner as I missed the client interaction and felt that, with the support and opportunities available at MHA Tait Walker, I could make a success of the role and get back to what I joined the industry for in the first place, to assist clients. My role as a Financial Planner is to add value to my clients lives and improve their circumstances.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Once the kids are at school and nursery, a typical day is spent between client meetings and the work that goes on behind the scenes at the office.
I look after clients throughout the North East so I’m always in the car travelling around to meetings which I enjoy as it’s nice to get out of the office and be in different places. There is a mixture between seeing existing clients and reviewing their financial plan and meeting new clients. I’ve come across a wide variety of different personalities and I enjoy listening to peoples experiences.
What kind of clients do you work with?
There is no set type of client I look to work with. I enjoy looking after a mix of clients with different needs. Primarily, I work with business owners/directors and clients focused on their retirement planning. Every client has their own unique needs.
Why do you like helping clients to achieve their goals?
It’s a wonderful feeling when, following your advice, you have a client say ‘you’ve changed my life’.
I see myself being a Financial Planner for the rest of my career so my ethos is to add value to my client’s situation during every meeting. I enjoy the planning side of the job and designing something that works for the client. It always means a lot to me to feel valued by my clients and colleagues.
A little about you. What’s your favourite thing about the North East?
I’m born and bred in the North East and as I often say, it’s the best place in the world!
I think we have it all here; a bustling city with plenty to do. Nice bars and restaurants, the Quayside; there’s nothing better than a walk on a Sunday afternoon. Plus its so easy to jump in the car, head to Whitely Bay, Cragside etc and enjoy your time there.
My personal favourite is Bamburgh and it’s literally on our doorstep. Like I said – best place in the world!
