Payroll tips for the festive season

It’s nearly time for the Christmas break and we’re sure you are all looking forward to a well-earned rest! Before you sit back and relax, we have some festive payroll tips for you to consider before hitting your out of office button…


  • The Full Payment Submission (FPS) date should be shown as normal pay date, in order to avoid benefit complications for your employees
  • Consider paying your employees early in December to help them out before Christmas
  • Review BACS deadlines considering bank holiday dates
  • Ensure cash bonuses are processed via the payroll and subject to tax and national insurance, and consider if they should be included within pension contributions
  • Consider if any non-cash awards should be subjected to tax
