Capital Allowances Specialist
Prior to joining MHA Tait Walker in October 2018, Matt held a role with HMRC specialising in policy work relating to Capital Allowances. He then took a role with KPMG in London as a Fixed Asset Tax Services specialist, advising some of the largest financial services, real estate and corporate clients across the globe.
Matt heads up MHA Tait Walkers Capital Allowances offering, advising clients of all shapes and sizes, from owner managed businesses fitting out their workspaces, to multinational clients developing or acquiring properties. Matt also advises clients in respect of Enhanced Capital Allowances, Land Remediation Relief and Dilapidation Claims, ensuring relief optimisation for clients at all times.
Matt’s daily tasks vary depending upon the portfolio of clients he is working with. His general day to day tasks involve liaising with clients and advisors, establishing entitlement and quantifying values, carrying out site surveys to view assets and overseeing the preparation of reports for submission to HMRC.
Matt is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and HMRC Inspector. This combination of taxation and Chartered Surveying qualifications allows all angles of the claim preparation to be covered from cost quantification to tax analysis and ensure maximum compliance.
