Chartered accountancy firm Tait Walker shone at this year’s 2014 Accounting and Finance Awards, taking home both the Independent Firm and Corporate Finance Deal of the Year accolades.
The judges awarded Tait Walker the title of Independent Firm of the Year, celebrating the firm for its excellence and dedication to staff wellbeing and teamwork across all divisions.
As well as this, the firm was recognised by the judging panel for its industry-leading opportunities, innovation and strength of communication across all levels of employment.
Tait Walker managing partner Andrew Moorby said: “We are thrilled with the recognition this award brings. As one of the largest independent accountancy practices in the region, we take an integrated approach in managing all aspects of our clients’ personal and business finances, in which each department works closely with the other and investing in further employment facilitates this greatly.
“2014 has been a great year for us so far – we are recruiting steadily and are incorporating new services into our extensive offering, so exciting times lie ahead for the firm.”
The Corporate Finance Deal of the Year award congratulated the firm’s corporate finance team for its work carried out with Winn Solicitors, a deal which saw Tait Walker assist one of the region’s most successful solicitors firms secure National expansion.
Michael Smith, Partner at Tait Walker Corporate Finance, said: “The corporate finance team at Tait Walker were thrilled to be involved in this deal; we are a local business and are therefore fully in support of encouraging growth in the region as a whole. This deal showed real confidence, not just for a local company that continues to perform well, but for the North East as a whole and we were thrilled to be a part of it.”
The evening subsequently saw success for Winn Solictors’ Iain Richardson, who was successful in the category of Financial Director of the Year.
Iain commented: “To win such an award is a huge personal honour, but it also highlights the excellent work carried out by the accounts teams across the Winn Group. I’m equally delighted that the hard work and dedication shown by the Tait Walker corporate finance team has been recognised in the Deal of the Year category, for securing our investment by JZI and Souter investments.”
Other categories open for nomination at this year’s event included Unsung Hero, Branch of the Year and the Outstanding Achievement award.
Tait Walker experienced similar success at the 2012 Accountancy Awards where it was recognised as Employer of the Year, coinciding with the firm’s 75th year in business. In celebration, a year-long charity drive was held throughout 2012 in which more than £100,000 was raised.
